(5 of text and 3 of plates), DELUXE EDITION LIMITED TO 500 COPIES, lithographed additional allegorical title, etched frontispiece plate dedicated to the memory of Blanco, etched portrait of Blanco, 1 page tinted lithographic manuscript facsimile of Blanco's notes, 472 (of 477) chromolithographed plates after Lorenzo Guerrero, Regino Garcia y Basa, Fabian Domingo, C.Arguelles, J.Garcia, Rosendo Garcia, F.Martinez and others, printed by C.Verdaguer of Barcelona, faint toning and spotting, occasional plates with small tears to margins, text and plates loose in modern chemises and solander boxes [Nissen BBI 170; Great Flower Books, p.50], folio (plates 430 x 300mm.), Manila, Establecimiento Tipografico de Plana y Ca, 1877-1880 Footnotes: THE DELUXE EDITION, LIMITED TO 500 COPIES, AND THE FIRST ILLUSTRATED EDITION. This rare and monumental work marks the beginning of botanical illustration in the Philippines, describing the flowers, fruits, and trees of the area. Flora Filipinas was first published in Manila in a small quarto volume in 1837, while a second edition was published in 1845, both of which were not illustrated. For this 1877 illustrated edition, Blanco's text was expanded and amended. It was issued in two formats: an economy edition, with the plates uncoloured and numbered, and the present limited deluxe edition ('edicion de lujo' as stated in the engraved title page), with coloured plates. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
