Unten große Abrisse ergänzt u. sorgfältig nachgezeichnet: links bis zur halben Figur/in das Kartenbild (ca. 11:16 cm) u. rechts bis in die Bordüre; kl. Wurmlöcher oben ebenso. Ferner rundum bis in den Plattenrand beschnitten u. angerändert. oRR. Rare and very decorative map, the framework includes the lively figures of Columbus, Vespucci, Magellan and Pizarro. First published in part VI of de Bry's 'Grand Voyages' 1597, and furthermore only in 5 subsequent ed., either in German or Latin, up to 1624. "The map is largely derived from the Petrus Plancius world map of 1594... and interestingly calls the southern continent 'Magellanica'. It incorporates accurately for the first time the White-le Moyne cartography upon a map of America" (B.). - Uncol. Expertly restored: cleaned and sized, therby creasemarks and foldings smoothed, still somewhat spotted. Large loss of image at bottom supplied in mss.: at left up to half figure/map-image (11:16 cm ca.) and at right up to border; rest. also to small worming at top.
