Olympic Games 1964 Diploma Trophée Taher Pacha - Certificate "Comité International Olympique. Le Trophée Taher Pacha….1963 a Sjoukje Dijkstra Holland". With original signature - given in ink - of Avery Brundage (president of the IOC) 43 x 30 cm. Small buckles, one stain. The seller got the certificate from figure skater Sjoukje Dijkstra (Gold medal 1964, silver 1960, triple world champion). Very rare IOC award which was presented to merited athletes from 1950 to 1971 annually. The 16 certificates went to: 1951: Paul Anspach (1882–1981); 1952: Fanny Blankers-Koen (1918–2004); 1953: Adhemar da Silva (1927–2001); 1955: Roger Bannister; 1956: Gert Fredriksson (1919–2006); 1957: John Landy 1930; certificate can be found in the Australian Olympic museum); 1962: Phil Coleman; 1963: Iolanda Bala? (1936–2016) und Sjoukje Dijkstra; 1965: Sixten Jernberg (1929–2012); 1967: Eugenio Monti (1928–2003); lin 1971 the last certificare went to the Newzealand eight (rowing team). The founder of this trophy Muhammed Taher Pasha (1879 –1970; EGY) was also the founder of the Mediterranean Games. He was president of the Egypt Olympic Committee and member of the executive committee of the IOC. In 1950 he donated Taher Pasha Trophy to the IOC. It is reserved to amateur athletes, no matter if they participate in Olympic Games or not. Only their averall merits or careers have to match the Olympic ideal.

Die Urkunde hat der Einlieferer direkt aus der Sammlung der Eiskunstläuferin Sjoukje Dijkstra (Goldmedaille 1964 und Silber 1960, 3fache Weltmeisterin) erhalten. Die Trophäe ist Amateursportlern vorbehalten, unabhängig davon, ob sie an den Olympischen Spielen teilnehmen oder nicht, deren allgemeine Verdienste oder Karriere im Namen der olympischen Ideale eine besondere Auszeichnung zu rechtfertigen scheinen.

Auctionterms

The lots have been described conscientiously. The authenticity of the lots is guaranteed if nothing to the contrary is mentioned in the text.

Prices listed in the catalogue are estimates only. The lots may be sold at higher or lower prices. Auctioning will start at 80% of estimate unless at least two higher bids have been received. Bids under 80% of estimate are not accepted by the auctioneer.

Bids are to be submitted in € only. They are executed conscientiously and without any commission.

A buyer´s fee of 19,5% is added to the successful bid. Foreign purchasers from EEC countries will be charged the German VAT. Postage, insurance and bank charges will also be added. Payment is due within 10 days of the auction invoice. The buyer is responsible for compliance with import regulations.

Bids by customers unknown to us are executed only when a sufficient deposit is mailed with the bids of verifiable bank or trade references are furnished.

The auctioneer reserves the right to sent lots only after payment has been made by a bank transfer to one of our accounts, or by a check in € drawn on a German bank. A personal check has to clear first.
