An Irish George III mahogany, purplewood banded and satinwood secretaire bookcase 1785-1800, almost certainly retailed by Nolan and Sons during the early 20th century With boxwood stringing, the chequered cornice above an alternating pattern-inlaid satinwood veneered frieze, over a pair of triple pointed arched astragal glazed panelled doors, enclosing five shelves, over a secretaire drawer enclosing eight satinwood veneered and sycamore lined drawers, four pigeon holes and a gilt tooled leather inset surface, with a pair of oval panelled doors below, enclosing one shelf, possibly originally the central section of a larger bookcase, with a plaque which reads: 'NOLAN & SONS, The Georgian House, Dublin', approximately: 136cm wide x 42cm deep x 261cm high, (53 1/2in wide x 16 1/2in deep x 102 1/2in high) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: TP TP For auctions held in Scotland: Lots will be moved to an offsite storage location (Constantine, Constantine House, North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge ML5 4EF, Scotland, UK) and will only be available for collection from this location at the date stated in the catalogue.
