TWO RED-CRESTED WHITE-GLAZED STANDING COCKERELS 18th/19th century Both modelled standing looking to the right astride a chocolate-brown jagged rockwork stump, the plumage on the wings and tail feathers strongly incised, all under a clear white glaze, the legs under a thin cream wash, the comb and wattle both cold-enamelled in rich red. 39.5cm (15 1/2in) high. Footnotes: 十八/十九世紀 仿生公雞 兩件 Provenance: Worch collection Hans (1888-1966) and Ludmilla Arnhold (1894-1976) acquired in Europe (according to the collector's index card) A European private collection See a very similar red-crested white-glazed standing cockerel, Qianlong, circa 1770, illustrated by A.du Boulay, Christie's Pictorial History of Chinese Ceramics, Oxford, 1984, p.299, no.5.
