A JADE-INLAID CINNABAR LACQUER BOX AND COVER 18th/19th century Of rectangular form with canted corners, the sides decorated with bats and stylised Shou characters against a ground of repeating wan characters, the cover inlaid with carved jade rectilinear scrolls within a gilt bronze band. 18cm (7 1/8in) long Footnotes: 十八/十九世紀 剔紅嵌玉盒 Provenance: from the collection of Lord Simon Marks (1888-1964), by repute, thence by descent.
