A SCREENPLAY OF MARIE CORELLI'S THELMA. DIXON, JR, THOMAS. Mimeographed Manuscript, 'Thelma by Marie Corelli,' approx. 90 pp, 4to, n.p., [1922], bound with brads and housed in plain blue wrappers with penciled notations to both covers, some toning and thumbing, edges worn. Marie Corelli (born Mary Mackay, 1855-1924) was a best-selling author of the late 19th and early 20th century, whose works generally were concerned with Christianity, reincarnation, astral projection and mysticism. Thelma, her third work, is a the story of a romance between a Norwegian woman and a British aristocrat. R-C Pictures Corporation produced Chester Bennett's adaptation of the popular Marie Corelli novel, Thelma. Bennett was a successful director and producer of silent films who moved to Hong Kong in the 1930s, and was sent to an internment camp at the outbreak of WWII where he was later executed by the Japanese on suspicion of spying.
