The larger 9 x 7 7/8 in. (22.9 x 20 cm.) Footnotes: Provenance Acquired from the photographer by John Pfahl Note Conceptual photographer John Pfahl was professor of photography at Rochester Institute of Technology from 1968 to 1985 and then taught at the University of Buffalo until his untimely death in 2020. He is well-known for his innovative landscape photography, particularly his series Altered Landscapes (1974-1978), in which he utilized the optics of the camera to manipulate a viewer's sense of perspective by placing manmade objects within a landscape. His later nature photographs emphasized mankind's devastating effects on the environment. During his lifetime, his work was included in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions and is held in many public and private collections. Pfahl was the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships and was a long-time trustee of George Eastman Museum. The works offered in this auction are sold in support of the John Pfahl Legacy Trust. Lot to be sold without reserve.
