Das angebotene Bildnis besticht in erster Linie durch seine fein geschilderten Details, eine nuancenreiche Lichtführung und durch die meisterliche Behandlung des weissen Spitzenbesatzes am Kleid wie auch des Blumenkranzes im Haar. Das Werk dürfte unter Mitwirkung von van Honthorsts Werkstatt entstanden sein. Angesichts seiner ausserordentlichen Popularität beschäftigte der Utrechter Maler mehrere Lehrlinge und Assistenten, unter denen Joachim von Sandrart sowie sein Bruder Willem van Honthorst als talentierteste Vertreter gelten.
