Staudacher reiste zwischen 1954 und 1962 mehrmals nach Paris und brachte von dort das Informel nach Österreich. Er interpretierte es auf seine ganz persönliche Weise, lyrisch, oft poetisch, aber immer expressiv und gestisch. Oft sind seine Bilder von kalligrafischen Schriftzeichen geprägt, weisen surreale Zitate oder Notizen auf; man spürt den Rhythmus und die Spontaneität, mit der sie entstanden sind.
