PAYNE, A. H. 1812 London - 1912 Leipzig. Stahlstich nach C. Cignani "Josef und Potiphars Weib", unten rechts signiert. Im Passepartout, Blattgröße Höhe 27 cm, Breite 21 cm. Altersbedingter guter Zustand. Anmerkung: Die Darstellung zeigt eine biblische Szene des Alten Testaments (1. Buch Mose, 39) mit der attraktiven Frau des Potiphars (Kämmerer des Pharaos), die ihren Diener Josef aus Rache um Zurückweisung bei ihrem Mann der Vergewaltigung bezichtigte. Josef wurde daraufhin ins Gefängnis geworfen. Dieser Stahlstich wurde nach dem um 1680 entstandenen Gemälde von Carlo Cignani, welches sich heute in der Sammlung Alte Meister der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden befindet, hergestellt.
