Bronze. China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912)
An especially attractive tripod censer, the legs are small feisty lion-dogs with elevated hind legs. Around the mouth of the vessel between the two expressively formed and horned mythical animal masks, circular spiral patterns in raised relief. The domed cover holds an openwork section with cloud patterns and a knob in the form of a larger shizu (lion-dog) crafted in the round, with a flaming tail and a red paw on a ball. Black-brown patina; on the flat underside, the four-character mark Da Ming Chenghua, referring to a famous period for bronzes in the Ming-Dynasty.

Ein besonders attraktives, dreibeiniges Räuchergefäß, die Beine sind quirlige kleine Löwenhunde mit ihren Hinterbeinen in der Luft. Um die Gefäßmündung zwischen zwei ausdrucksvoll geformten und gehörnten Fabeltiermasken kreisrunde Spiralmuster in hohem Relief. Der gewölbte Deckel trägt eine durchbrochene Zone mit Wolkenmustern und als Knauf einen größeren vollplastischen Shizi (Löwenhund) mit flammendem Schweif und einer Pfote auf einem Ball. Schwarzbraune Patina, auf dem flachen Boden die Vierzeichenmarke Da Ming Chenghua, die auf eine für Bronzen berühmte Periode der Ming-Dynastie Bezug nimmt.
