Ink and some color on paper. Japan, Meiji period – 1st half 20th cent.
The bird rendered grasped in a moment of fishing, the plumage skillfully painted with strong brushwork, the bird is tastefully set amid masterfully painted reed. Signed to the lower left CHOKUJO ??, and red seal KO in ?? (seal of K.). Silk mounting, bamboo rollers, good condition.

Tusche und etwas Farbe auf Papier. Japan, Meiji-Zeit bis 1. H. 20. Jh.
Ein schwarzer Wasservogel, eine Ralle, geht auf Fischfang. Rallen zählen zur Gattung der Watvögel, werden auch "Rohrhuhn" genannt, in Japan Kuina. Mit einem Bein steht es im Wasser und späht scharf in die Tiefe. Mit sicherem Pinsel und Duktus ist nicht nur sein Gefieder gemalt, sondern besonders auch die Schilfhalme, die in den unmittelbaren Vordergrund stechen und auch die Höhe markieren. Rechts unten die Signatur CHOKUJO ?? und rotes Siegel KO in ?? (Siegel des K.). Seidene Fassung, die Roller aus Bambus, guter Zustand.
