TWO-HEADED HEAVENLY CREATURE
Copper repousse with fire gilding. China, in the style of the Tang, presumably 19th cent., perhaps older
Elaborate work, entirely gilded. The mythical creature, half bird and half human, with two heads, stands on a quadratic base. The wings and the large tail are double-walled. The wings are furnished with a fine repousse pattern on both sides. The arms are crossed against the chest, the heads not rendered identically – the hair on one of them is much larger and falls far down the back. Patches of green patina.

Kupfer-Repoussé mit Feuervergoldung. China, im Stil der Tang, vermutlich 19. Jh. bis Republik-Zeit, möglicherweise älter
Eine aufwendige Arbeit, zur Gänze vergoldet. Das Fabelwesen, zur Hälfte Vogel, zur anderen menschlich mit zwei Köpfen, steht auf einer quadratischen Basis. Die Flügel und der große Schweif sind doppelwandig ausgeführt. Die Flügel sind beidseitig mit fein repoussiertem Muster versehen. Die Arme sind vor der Brust verschränkt, die beiden Köpfe sind nicht gleich ausgeführt, beim einen ist der Haarknoten einiges größer und fließt rückseits das Haar weit hinab. Stellenweise grüne Patina.
