Jh.Die Figuren sind aus Büffelleder sehr sorgfältig und minuziös herausgeschnitten, reich bemalt und werden an Holz- wie auch Hornstäben geführt. Ausgezeichnete Qualität der Bemalung, sehr gute Erhaltung.Höhe ca. 60 – 79 cm (zwei kleinere Figuren ca. 25 cm)Aus einer deutschen PrivatsammlungDas javanische Puppenspiel (Wayang) nimmt im Leben dieses Volkes aufgrund seines sehr magisch-religiösen Charakters einen ganz besonderen Platz ein und ist bis heute außerordentlich beliebt. Die Wayang-Kulit-Figuren gibt es bereits seit ca. 1000 nach. Die Wayang-Klitik-Puppen sind ähnlich den Wayang-Kulit, aber Kopf und Körper sind aus Holz. Es gibt diesen Typus seit dem 15. / 16. Jh, aber sie sind ungleich seltener als die übrigen Wayang-Typen.Bei den Wayang-Golek, hauptsächlich in West-Java populär, sind Kopf und Oberteil gänzlich aus Holz gefertigt und ab der Taille nur mit einem Rock aus Batikstoff bekleidet. Im westlichen Kunsthandel findet man zwar immer wieder Angebote javanischer Wayang-Puppen, aber selten so gute und antike wie sie hier aus einer Sammlung angeboten werden und vor rund 60-70 Jahren erworben wurden.A GROUP OF NINE WAYANG-KULIT PUPPETS AND ONE SYMBOLLeather, wood, horn, with paint. The Wayang-Kulit figurines have existed since about 1000 A.D. The Wayang-Klitik type puppets exist since the 15th/16th century and resemble the Wayang-Kulit figurines, but are much more rarely represented. Their heads and bodies are made from wood.The Wayang-Golek type is popularly seen in Western Java; there, presenting wooden heads and torsos and batik robes down from the waist.In the Western art trade sometimes there are offered Javanese Wayang-puppets, which however, rarely show good condition and antique age as the examples here presented, that come from a collection acquired about 60/70 years ago.
