TANOMURA CHIKUDEN (1777-1835): BERGLANDSCHAFT IM HERBSTTusche und Farben auf Papier. Japan, sp. Edo-Zeit, um 1900Sehr vertikal ausgerichtete Komposition mit felsigen Inseln und einem steil emporragenden Berg mit Firnfeldern. Im Vordergrund verschiedene Bäume, teils herbstlich verfärbt. Ein romantisch gelegenes, ummauertes Anwesen, auf einer Veranda ein Mann. Er blickt hinab zu einem Kahn, der - zwei Leute in ihm - gerade zur Ausfahrt ansetzt. Der Künstler entstammte einer Arztfamilie aus Chikuden, so wie sein Vater arbeitete er anfangs auch für den feudalen Clan, wurde später aber Gelehrter, Schriftsteller, Kunstsammler und Kalligraf. Die lange Inschrift oben links zeigt seine Gewandtheit, die Signatur an deren Ende ist CHIKUDEN sei sha heidai 竹田生寫併題, die roten Siegel KEN IN 憲印 und CHIKUDEN 竹田. Romantically situated estate with a man on the veranda. He looks to a canoe with two people getting ready to embark. The artist comes form a doctor´s family from Chikuden. Like his father, he also worked for the feudal clan, then became later a writer, art collector, scholar and calligrapher. The long inscription at top left shows his eruditeness, the signature at end is CHIKUDEN sei sha hei dai 竹田生寫併題, the red seals KEN IN 憲印 and CHIKUDEN 竹田.
