[COLUMBUS (CHRISTOPHER] My Secrete Log Boke, facsimile parchment, illustrations, loosely inserted facsimile letter 'from the fortunate fisherman who recovered the journal', and 'commission granted to Columbus by Ferdinand II' (with cord and 'wax seal') loosely inserted (as issued), together with publisher's prospectus, publisher's parchment wrappers, the upper cover encrusted with sand and shells as issued, preserved in modern slipcase, small folio, [Printed by Rangette & Sons, Dusseldorf, for Elliot Stock, [c.1892]--Gleanings from the Poets, decorative title, 15 chromolithographed plates on stiff card, publisher's white silk boards, the side with paste on decorative card, the upper cover with silk-printed portrait of Shakespeare within a raised border of ivy and flowers heightened in gilt thread (also used in the border), g.e., original box with printed label on upper cover (a couple of corners split), 4to, [N.P., c.1895]; and 7 other items, including 3 1890s chromolithographed books in shaped bindings (shell, crab, house, of which 2 published by Ernest Nister), and a Puffin book 'Heads, Bodies & Legs' by Denis Wirth-Miller and Richard Chopping (1946), various sizes (9) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: • • Zero rated for VAT, no VAT will be added to the Hammer Price or the Buyer's Premium.
