Mahakala-Räuchergefäß - Tibet 19.Jh., Bronzeguss in verlorener Form, feuervergoldet, auf drei Füßen aufliegende Maske des Mahakala mit geöffnetem Mund, flammenden Augenbrauen und einem dritten Auge (Weisheitsauge) mitten auf seiner Stirn als Räuchergefäß mit Glascabochon-Besatz, ehemals partiell kultisch gefasst, Fassung stark berieben, Stand verlötet, Maße: ca. 17cm x 16cm, Gew.ca.539g, sehr guter Originalzustand - Dharmapala Mahakala, tib. mgon po nag po (Gönpo Nagpo) gilt als Beschützer der buddhistischen Lehre (Dharma) und verkörpert den zornvollen Aspekt des Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara (tib. Chenresig). Nach buddhistischer Überzeugung lenkt und befreit Mahakala den Geist der Gläubigen, bereichert ihn mit Weisheit und hilft ihm bei der Überwindung jeglicher Hindernisse. Wie viele andere tibetischen Gottheiten, ist er aus dem Pantheon des Hinduismus übernommen worden. Dort gilt Mahakala als zornvolle Erscheinungsform des Shiva Provenienz Privatsammlung Süddeutschland
