Footnotes: Provenance Archer Graphic Studio, Ahmedabad One of the stories surrounding the festival of Holi is that it commemorates the divine love of Krishna and Radha. Lord Krishna, an avatar of Vishnu was known to be mischievous and playful. He was however concerned about his complexion and thought that Radha would never like him because she was extremely fair. Upon explaining his predicament to his mother, his mother suggested that he apply colour on Radha, which would make her look like him. Thus, the festival of Holi was formed and it became known as a festival of love.
