According to the 1992 auction description, this elegant centerpiece bowl is descended through 6 generations of Madison family members, from Madison's younger brother William Madison (1762-1843) to his son Ambrose Madison (1796-1855); to his daughter Leila Bankhead (1838-1911) who married William Pope Dabney on December 31, 1856; to her son Percy Pope Dabney (1866-1935) who married Ethel Linnie Crane in 1895; to their daughter Alice Madison Dabney (1896-1981) who married Kenneth Albert Moores on June 22, 1921; to their son Madison D.
