OVERALL CONDITION Some surface wear to the unhallmarked metal (Testing as 1st: platinum and gold, 2nd: 8ct gold, 3rd: 12ct gold, 4th: base metal, 5th: 4ct gold, 6th: silver, 7th: 13ct gold, 8th: one as 4ct gold, one base metal). Spots of discolouration throughout. 7th shield brooch with loose pin fitting, could benefit from professional attention. Remaining pin fittings secure. 1st: Diamonds bright and lively. 2nd: Pin fitting secure. Pearls displaying a variation of body colours, with the outer row displaying strong rose and grey overtones. Inner row displaying a cream body colour. Blemishes, wrinkles and dimples present, mostly to smaller inner row. Opal displaying a blue and green play-of-colour. Compartment to reverse with possible missing piece. 3rd: Diamonds displaying a soft lustre. Some very minor losses to the enamel visible under 10x magnification. Seed pearls displaying a white body colour. 4th: Reverse of brooch marked with indistinct mark (lozenge) and Metal. 5th: Metal discolouration and small spots of solder visible to the front of brooch. Loss of metal visible to front, possibly revealing base metal. Citrine displaying a light yellow hue with excellent transparency. 6th: Reverse of brooch marked silver. Minor abrasions present to the rock crystal visible under closer inspection including small fractures to the internal edges. Some small fragments of rock crystal visible under closer inspection on the butterfly backing. Butterfly wing fragment displaying typical structure and a blue body colour with iridescence visible. 7th: Solder visible to reverse of brooch with possible fitting deficient. Pin loose and not secure, requires professional attention. 8th: Solder visible to reverse of foiled back stick pin, small loss of metal to setting. Accompanying stick pin with hinged backing.
