TWO GEM-SET STICK PINS, 19TH CENTURY 1st: Pearl and diamond stick pin Single-cut diamonds, approx. 0.35ct total 4.1mm pearl Lengths: stick pin 7.0cm, cluster 0.9cm 2nd: Diamond stick pin Old brilliant-cut diamond weighing 0.72ct Length 5.6cm Total weight approx. 3.0g (2) Footnotes: OVERALL CONDITION 1st: Light surface wear to the unhallmarked metal (Pin testing as 7ct gold, gallery testing as 16ct gold). Minor spots of discolouration throughout, commensurate with age. Partial breakage to the metal of upper gallery, beneath central pearl and to reverse of plaque. Button-shaped pearl untested, displaying a white body colour with silver and rose overtones and a medium lustre. Generally smooth nacre with some minor dimpling/ wrinkling visible under 10x magnification. Diamonds bright and lively. 2nd: Light surface wear to the unhallmarked metal (pin testing as 6ct gold) with some solder visible where pin meets mount. Diamond estimated as H colour, I2 clarity with some eye visible dark and surface reaching inclusions. Assessed in mount.
