GEM-SET PENDANT AND BROOCH 1st: Garnet brooch, circa 1870 Garnet cabochon Glazed panel to reverse Length 4.0cm 2nd: Garnet and seed pearl pendant, Oval-cut garnet Seed pearls 9 carat gold One seed pearl deficient UK hallmark Length 5.3cm Total weight approx. 20.5g (2) Footnotes: OVERALL CONDITON 1st: Light surface wear to the unhallmarked yellow metal (reverse testing as 13ct gold) with some spots of discolouration, notably to pin. Some small losses of metal visible to edges of metal border. Pin fitting secure. Garnet of evenly saturated deep red hue with good transparency, measuring approx. 13.3 x 10.6mm, depth not possible due to setting. 2nd: Light surface wear to the 9 carat gold with minor signs of porosity visible to reverse of pendant. London hallmark to reverse, with date letter D signifying 1978. Seed pearls with some wrinkling visible under magnification, and a medium to high lustre. One seed pearl deficient. Garnets displaying a medium purplish-red hue, small chips to crown facets visible under 10x magnification. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
