Loosely inserted is a one-page autograph note by Baines, seemingly written to accompany a botanical specimen 'Blossom of the Great Tree Aloe Damara land - brought home by T Baines See Explorations in SW Africa... the plant was supposed by Sir Wm J Hooker to be new as well as the Specimen of the Welwitschia Mirabilis of which I also sent home the first specimen & Drawing T.Baines'.
