A late 17th century marquetry inlaid walnut longcase clock the dial signed Henry Thornton, London, the case associated the previously rising hood with overhanging cornice and silk-backed sound fret set on spirally twisted columns, over a trunk door with three shaped panels of bird and flower marquetry framing the circular glazed lenticle, on a reduced inlaid panel base, the 11' square brass dial with replaced spandrels framing the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with half-quarter marks, fancy half-hour marks, subsidiary seconds, ringed winding squares and a fancy engraved date aperture, the movement with four (fifth now removed) knopped and ringed pillars, anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on a bell, together with a pendulum, one brass-covered weight, one lead weight with brass cap and a door key, 197.5cm high overall approximately This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: TP TP For auctions held in Scotland: Lots will be moved to an offsite storage location (Constantine, Constantine House, North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge ML5 4EF, Scotland, UK) and will only be available for collection from this location at the date stated in the catalogue.
