They married in 1774. Cornelius O'CALLAGHAN (1741-1797) was the son of Thomas O'CALLAGHAN (1713-1778) by Sarah DAVIS (1715-1744). Until 1785 he served as an MP for Fethard co. Tipperary in the Irish Parliament. Frances PONSONBY was the daughter of John PONSONBY (1713-1787), an Anglo-Irish politician, by Lady Elizabeth CAVENDISH (1727-1796) daughter of William CAVENDISH (1698-1755) 3rd Duke of Devonshire. Later in 1808 he married Lady Eleanor BUTLER (1788-1859) daughter of John BUTLER (1740-1795) 17th Earl Ormonde by Lady Frances Susan Elizabeth WANDERSFORD (1754-1830). The second engraving was added, no earlier than 1806, for the 1st Viscount. The armorial contains no crest and we expect that it was first intended for the use of Frances O'CALLAGHAN nee PONSONBY.
