Howitt, Atkinson, Clark, Manskirch, &c. with a Supplement of New South Wales, half-title, 110 hand-coloured aquatint plates, off-setting from plate to facing leaf of text, endpapers creased, untrimmed in contemporary blue boards, rebacked to match, some scuffs and tears to sides, later maroon morocco pull-off case lettered in gilt on spine [cf. Abbey Travel 2 & 3; cf. Ferguson 577; cf. Tooley 225; Schwerdt I, p.179], small folio (355 x 245mm.), Edward Orme, n.d. [text watermarked 'J. Whatman 1823'] Footnotes: 'The coloured plates in this work, especially those drawn by Howitt, are fine, both as regards draughtsmanship and colouring, and the production as a whole possesses a certain cachet' (Schwerdt). The diverse field sports depicted include 'Arabs Hawking Antelopes', 'Russian Fishing in Winter', 'German Bear-trap pitfull', 'Hunting Antelopes with a Panther', Whaling (4), Bullfighting (13), 'Greenlanders Seal Hunting' and 'Hog Hunting in India', and the supplement ten plates of indigenous people of New South Wales . This is a variant of the 1819 second edition, with the undated title-page bearing the imprint of Howlett and Barker on the verso, continuous pagination, and without the dedication or title-page to the supplement.
