A RARE ROBIN'S-EGG-GLAZED BOTTLE VASE 18th/19th century The exterior covered in a speckled turquoise glaze with minute darker reddish inclusions simulating the marking on the natural egg, with globular body and cylindrical neck rising to an out-turned rim. 9.5cm (7 3/4in) high. Footnotes: 十八/十九世紀 爐鈞釉長頸瓶 Provenance: a European private collection 'Robin's-egg' glaze was used from the Yongzheng period until the 19th century, and is called Lu Jun or 'furnace Jun' in China, suggesting that a connection was made with the Jun glazes of the Song dynasty, and because it was fired in a furnace at a lower temperature after the firing of the porcelain. Compare with a related robin's-egg-glazed vase, 18th century, which was sold at Sotheby's London, 11 May 2011, lot 246. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.
