Edward Wagenknecht was a literary critic and author, but most importantly for Ozians he was the author of 'Utopia Americana,' the first instance of serious Oz criticism from a literary point of view. Many of these volumes have Wagenknecht's annotations to the margins, including observations and critical notes, with some simply emphasis of particular passages, likely used in the composition of his landmark essay.
