In 1929 silent film star Joan Lowell wrote Cradle of the Deep, a memoir about a sea adventure that was later proven to be untrue. New Yorker humorist Corey Ford quickly penned this satire of Lowell's book, Salt Water Taffy, the story of June Triplett 'as told to' Corey Ford (June dedicates the book to Ford saying he 'encouraged me by writing this autobiography for me').
