Footnotes: Provenance Courtesy of the artist Artist statement: James Dean Caruso (b. Santa Monica, California 1984) is a Los Angeles based artist whose work is driven by a desire to engage with and evolve within the complexities of our modern society. His intricate drawings and paintings employ a highly detailed mark-making technique that produces realized landscapes of movement, pattern and volume. The organic forms developed through this repetitive process are inspired by the passage of time and the process of growth as experienced by all living things. Themes of solitude and identity as well as perseverance and natural beauty are explored through the isolation and endurance of his studio practice.
