AN INLAID AND LACQUERED-CHERRY BARK THREE-CASE INRO Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century Decorated with a continuous design of stalks of kikyo (Chinese bellflower), the flowers rendered in gold takamaki-e and inlaid in shell, the leaves applied in pewter, the interior of plain wood, with a wood ojime decorated in high relief with a heron standing with one foot in the water and a moored boat beside a wood post and reeds; unsigned. 7cm x 6cm (2¾in x 2 3/8in).
