Dated Hudson Valley Fowler, c. 1745. 60 1/2 in., .73 caliber barrel with ring decoration at the breech and London Company of Gunmakers' proof marks, two rings at 10 1/4 and 15 in. from the breech, brass blade front sight; maple stock with raised carving around the lock mortice, side plate plateau and breech plug tang, single line carving along the barrel and rammer channels, the right side of the butt with scratched date '1754' and the left side with scratched date '1789'; brass furniture including a land pattern-style trigger guard with acorn finial, sheet brass butt plate with long pointed tang, thumb piece, openwork scrolling serpent side plate, three sheet brass rammer pipes and an entry pipe; wood rammer. Overall lg. 76 1/2 in. Condition: Barrel toned to gray with light pitting at the vent; lock is toned to mottled gray with overall pitting; stock has an old repair at the wrist, stain at the entry pipe, and short narrow patch in the stock at the muzzle on the right side.
