British-Style American Fowler, Perkin, Philadelphia, c. 1780. 45 3/8 in., .78 caliber barrel with London Company of Gunmakers' proof marks at the breech, the top of the barrel engraved 'PERKIN PHILADA,' brass blade sight at the muzzle; convex lock plate with double line border engraving and pointed tail, engraved 'PERKIN' on a scroll below the pan; walnut stock with checkered wrist; brass furniture including trigger guard with acorn finial, butt plate floral engraved stepped tang, flat side plate with pointed tail and engraved hunting scene, three sheet brass rammer pipes and a sheet brass entry pipe; horn nose cap; wood rammer. Overall lg. 70 3/4 in. Condition: Barrel and lock toned to deep brown with pitting around the vent/pan areas; stock has stains and sliver losses along the barrel channel; brass toned to yellow.
