Hudson Valley Fowler, c. 1730. 59 in., .72 caliber barrel with ring decoration at the breech, London Company of Gunmakers' proof marks and barrel maker's mark crown over 'IW,' two rings at 12 and 16 in. from the breech, brass blade front sight; curved and convex surface lock plate with double line border engraving with 'I/WILLIAMS' below the pan; tiger maple stock with heavy butt and thick wrist, relief carving around the lock mortice, side plate plateau, breech plug tang and entry pipe, and along the rammer channel; brass furniture including a trigger guard with arrow finials, butt plate with point and bulb tang with single line border engraving, oblong thumb piece, openwork foliate scroll side plate, three sheet brass rammer pipes and one entry pipe; wood rammer with brass tip. Overall lg. 75 1/2 in. Condition: Possibly reconverted, barrel toned to mottled brown; lock toned to mottled gray; stock fore end is spliced 14 in. from the muzzle, has a break and a wood patch associated with the barrel pin forward of the third rammer pipe, and a repaired break through the wrist; brass toned to yellow.
