Ben Janssens Oriental Art, TEFAF 2003, London, 2003, p.65 展覽著錄:Spink & Son Ltd,《Chinese Art at Spink, Spring 1991》,倫敦,1991年,第25頁,編號29 Ben Janssens Oriental Art,《TEFAF 2003》,倫敦,2003年,第65頁 The 'gold-splash' decoration was created through a technique known as 'fire-gilding.' This method involved applying a mercury-gold amalgam to the surface, which was then heated to evaporate the mercury, leaving a thin layer of gold adhered to the base metal. The process could be repeated multiple times to gradually build up thicker layers of gold. See R. Kerr, Later Chinese Bronzes, London, 1990, p.39. The form of this piece is rare among gold-splashed bronze wares. Compare with a gilt-splashed bronze quatrefoil censer of similar shape but supported on four cabriole feet, 17th/18th century, which was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 4th October 2018, lot 132.
