APOLLO 17: LUNAR SURFACE FLOWN LM MALFUNCTION PROCEDURES FROM THE FINAL LUNAR MISSION Original sheet, printed recto and verso, July 12, 1972, 265 x 191 mm (10 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches), being pp 8-7 and 8-8 from the LM Malfunctions Procedures, Part No. SKB32100127 - 386 S/N 1001, with three holes in the gutter margin as issued and with plastic-reinforced tab at fore-edge margin denoting which procedures on each page; accompanied by certificate and digital copy of the full checklist. Provenance: GENE CERNAN (signed by him and with a copy of his statement of ownership). SIGNED & INSCRIBED: 'Flown to the Lunar Surface on Apollo XVII / Gene Cernan Apollo XVII CDR' along the upper margin of p 8-8. Gene Cernan's provenance statement for the full LM Malfunction Procedures manual, provided as a copy here, reads: 'This manual is in a trouble-shooting 'yes-no' flowchart (often used for medical diagnosis) for every major system aboard our lunar lander Challenger, including our lunar rover, when Jack Schmitt and I spent our three days exploring the moon. This book was marked 'MALF' on the top and bottom edges for quick referral in case of trouble. Fortunately there was none, at least of the kind this manual was designed to predict, such as my accidentally tearing off the rover's rear fender, or the fouling of one of our experiments with moondust. I kept this manual as a souvenir when transferring items from the LM to the CM before it was jettisoned and we headed home. This was the last such manual used by Apollo.'
