Second edition of 'one of the most important and reliable eighteenth-century accounts of American natural history, social organization and political situation' (Streeter). Peter Kalm, a student of Linnaeus, travelled extensively in North America (including Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and into Canada) between 1748 and 1751, looking for plants which might be usefully introduced to Sweden.
