(sheet) Footnotes: Provenance The Artist, thence by descent to the present owner Private Collection, U.K. Exhibited Bradford, Bradford Art Gallery and Museum, A Timeless Journey; Tristram Hillier R.A. 1905-1983, 11 June-31 July 1983, cat.no.94 (as Untitled - Sail, Paddle and Propeller); this exhibition travelled to London, Royal Academy of Arts, 13 August-18 September; Hull, Ferens Art Gallery, 24 September-30 October and Preston, Harris Museum and Art Gallery, 19 November-17 December 1983 Literature Jenny Pery, Painter Pilgrim, The Art and Life of Tristram Hillier, Royal Academy of Arts, London, 2008, p.116, pl.96 (ill.b&w) Hillier's composition Ship Propulsion is the design for a large-scale mural proposed for the 1951 Festival of Britain's The Sea and Ships pavilion. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
