Minton 'The Bicentenary Vase', pair, 1992 Bone china, of amphora form, decorated in gilt with classical scenes after the design of John Moyr Smith interlinked with ornament in the manner of Christopher Dresser, each on an associated square plinth. 56 cm high, 26 cm diameter Inscribed to the base and plinth in gilt 'MINTON BICENTENARY 1793-1993, The Paris Exhibition Vase of 1878. Reproduced from the original drawings by John Moyr Smith in the Minton Archives. A facsimile reproduction hand-crafted in English Fine China and individually hand-painted and hand-gilded in 22 carat gold by Minton Artists.', numbered respectively 5 and 6 from a production of 25. Both with label affixed underneath the plinth inscribed 'The Minton Vase is being produced in a Limited Edition of 25 to commemorate the Bicentenary of the Company, 1793-1993. Both the shape and the design of the Vase have been recreated from the Minton Archives by the Company's artists and raised paste gilders. The shape was originally designed and sculpted by Jean-Baptiste-Jules Klagmann and the decoration was designed by John Moyr Smith for the Paris Exhibition of 1878.'
