CROIX PUY EN VELAY AUVERGNE REGION PENDANT, 18TH CENTURY Orange, blue and green enamel Length 6.8cm x 3.0cm Weight approx. 4.0g Footnotes: Auvergne crosses always feature three pendants, occasionally striated, in the shape of a drop or 'pendeloque', which represent the tears of Christ, who, according to the Bible, wept three times leading up his Crucifixion. OVERALL CONDITION Surface wear present to the unhallmarked metal (reverse of cross testing as low carat gold and base metal) overall commensurate with age. Denting present to pear-shaped metal drops with some splitting to the metal and solder repair visible under 10x magnification. Pendant hoop with dents, spots of discolouration and eye visible breakage to metal. Pendant metal pierced at the centre of cross, would benefit from professional attention. ENAMEL Substantial losses to the vari-coloured enamelwork, commensurate with age, with areas worn to metal base. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
