SNAKE STICK PIN, CIRCA 1860 AND HEINRICH LEVINGER: JUGENDSTIL STICK PIN, LATE 19TH CENTURY 1st: Heinreich Levinger Jugendstil stick pin Opal cabochon Green plique-à-jour enamel Maker's mark for Heinrich Levinger Length 12.8cm 2nd: Diamond, hairwork and enamel snake stick pin, mid 19th century Cushion-shaped diamonds very approx. 0.10ct total Blue enamel Braided hairwork Length 8.2cm Fitted case Total weight approx. 7.0g Footnotes: OVERALL CONDITION Some surface wear to the unhallmarked metal (1st: testing as silver, 2nd: snake motif testing as 19ct gold, pin testing as 8ct gold). 1: Stamped to reverse HL, DEPOSÈ and 900. Spots of discolouration throughout. Plique-à-jour enamel with some splitting/hairline cracks, eye visible in one section. Opal displaying green and violet play-of-colour with orange flashes. 2nd: Areas of discolouration commensurate with age. Diamonds bright and lively with some minor chips and abrasions visible under 10x magnification. ENAMEL In predominantly good condition, some cracks visible under closer inspection.
