TIBET AND HIMALAYAS FILIPPI (FILIPPO DE) The Italian Expedition to the Himalaya, Karakoram and Eastern Turkestan (1913-1914), first English edition, half-title, 2 coloured plates (including frontispiece), 15 folding panoramas( 6 loose as issued in rear pocket), 4 coloured maps (2 folding in rear pocket), numerous photographic illustrations throughout, gift inscription dated 1945 on front free endpaper, publisher's red cloth gilt, corners bumped, spine toned [Yakushi (1994) F73c], 4to, Edward Arnold, 1932 Footnotes: FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. This work covers De Filippi's great scientific expedition to the Eastern Karokoram and Chinese Turkestan. The expedition started in Bombay in August of 1913, and carried out extensive geological, geophysical, ethnographic and biological researches on the Central Asian plateau. It includes chapters penned by the famous mountaineers G. Dainelli and J.A. Spranger and which provide a remarkable overview of this area. Due to the Great War, the results of the expedition's researches were eventually published in Italian between 1922 and 1935. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
