A George II walnut and parcel gilt mirror 1735-1740 The later bevelled plate within a foliate slip, encompassed by a shaped and scrolled frame with a conforming moulded surround and projecting upper angles, flanked by a scrolled corbel-hung floral, foliate and pomegranate carved pendant to each side, the frieze applied with a scrolled acanthus adornment and central pierced shell, surmounted by an egg and dart moulded cornice and swan neck pediment with a stiff-leaf wrapped, scrolled foliate carved and acanthus spray cartouche cresting, 150cm high x 86cm wide. Footnotes: Two comparable George II walnut and parcel gilt mirrors, dating to the period 1735-1740, appear illustrated in G. Child, World Mirrors, 1650-1900, fig. 68, p. 82 & fig. 90, p. 90. Buyers' Premium and Charges


For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
