A late 19th / early 20th century cased white metal Highland dress set The case bearing trade label for Meyer & Mortimer Edinburgh Comprising dirk, skean dhu, sporran, dress powder horn, shoe buckles, belt buckle, and waist belt and buckle, the dirk with bright tapering single-edged blade with faceted back edge single fuller and clip back point, the hardwood baluster hilt carved with basket weave and applied with studs, the pommel cap set with a Citrine and supported by thistle leaves, the basal mount with thistles, contained within a wooden leather covered scabbard with bi-knife and fork mounted ensuite, the locket centred with applied Drummond family Goshawk crest, armed and belled, on a crest coronet with motto 'Virtutem Coronat Honor' above, the blade 30.5cm long, 46cm overall; the skean dhu possibly matched with thistle and plain mounts and basket weave hilt; the sporran with hinged front with pentagonal white metal front centred with corresponding Goshawk and motto surrounded by robust thistles, the horse hair body with six tassels with gold cord suspenders, the bag lined to the rear in red leather and lined with doe skin; the belt buckle decorated in a similar manner to the cantle; the powder horn mounted with thistles and lid mounted with cut glass and the chape with smoky quartz; and the leather waist belt and buckle with matching decoration, all contained within a fitted mahogany case with brass mounts, bearing paper label inscribed 'Drummond Lt Colonel Maurice James David' (qty) Footnotes: Colonel Sir Maurice Charles Andrew Drummond (1877-1957) was a British solider and police offer who is, to date, the longest-serving Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis. He was David Perth's uncle. His military career began as a second lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion of the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) in 1897 and his final appointment was as the Assistant Quartermaster General, Eastern Command from 1927. Drummond retired from the army in 1931 and became Deputy Assistant Commissioner in the Metropolitan Police in 1933. In 1939 he was awarded Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 1939 Birthday Honours. Buyers' Premium and Charges

27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
