A scarlet and gilt decorated japanned bureau-cabinet Early 18th century and later The double-domed top with a moulded cornice surmounted by three carved giltwood flaming urns above a pair of panelled doors enclosing a fitted interior of pigeonholes surmounted by a single shelf, above a fall enclosing a further fitted interior with pigeon holes, small drawers and a central cupboard flanked by concealed column compartments, the base fitted with two short and three long drawers on bracket feet, with all-over chinoiserie decoration, depository labels to the back for Hon Mrs A Anson and dated 28/2/36, 86.5cm wide x 53cm deep x 202cm high, (34in wide x 20 1/2in deep x 79 1/2in high) Footnotes: The depository labels to the back written for the Hon Mrs A Anson may possibly be Lela (née Alexander) Emery. She was the wife of Hon. Alfred Anson (1876–1944) who was the youngest son of the 2nd Earl of Lichfield. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
