A MODEL 1865 SPENCER CARBINE, 1865-66. Serial number 14289, .50 caliber round barrel with folding ladder sight and marked at the breech 'M.1865'; frame marked on the top 'SPENCER REPEATING/RIFLE CO. BOSTON, MASS./PAT'D MARCH 6. 1860', with Stabler magazine cut-off; walnut stock and steel furniture, the butt plate with magazine tube. Barrel lg. 20, overall lg. 37 1/4 in. Condition: Barrel toned to mottled brown, frame and lock toned to mottled gray/brown, stock has shrinkage cracks in the butt and a loss at the breech on the left side, furniture toned to mottled brown, bore has light pitting but strong rifling, action functions properly.
