This feature dates back to 1656 when it was first implemented on a clock made for Pope Alexander XII by the Campani brothers in Rome. The timepiece displays hours through an aperture and minutes with a traditional hand, offering a modern take on the classic complication originally designed for reading time in the dark with illuminated numerals. The current lot, in very good condition, is a beautiful example of the CPCP era of Cartier watchmaking and will appeal to lovers of this iconic collection.
