A rare English delftware teapot, circa 1730 Probably London, the bullet shaped body with a loop handle and straight spout, painted in blue outlined in black, each side with a bird perched on rockwork among flowering plants and insects, the spout and handle with formal scrollwork, 9.5cm high Footnotes: Provenance Graham Slater Collection English delftware teapots of this distinctive shape, derived from Meissen porcelain, are rarely seen. An example of identical shape is illustrated by F H Garner and Michael Archer, English Delftware (1972), pl.73B. Another teapot of similar shape is illustrated by Leslie B Grigsby, The Longridge Collection (2000), p.357, no.D322.
