TAN YANKAI (1880-1930) Calligraphy in Running Script Hanging scroll, now framed and glazed, ink on paper, inscribed by the calligrapher with a dedication, signed Tan Yankai with two artist's seals. 58 1/4 x 14 1/2in (148 x 36.8cm) Footnotes: Provenance Property from the Family Collection of Drs. Immanuel Chung-Yueh (1923-2005) and Dolores M. Hsu (1930-2019), thence by descent 譚延闓(1880-1930) 行書急就章句 水墨紙本 立軸 款識:急就奇觚與眾異,羅列諸物名姓字,分別部局不雜廁。思忠先生正之,譚延闓。 鈐印:譚延闓、訒齋居士 來源: 徐中約(1923-2005)及杜樂思(Dolores M. Hsu, 1930-2019)伉儷舊藏,繼由後人遞藏 Born in Shanghai in 1923, Immanuel Chung-Yue Hsu came to the United States for post graduate studies, receiving his doctorate from Harvard University. Later a Research Fellow at Harvard's East Asian Research Center (1955-1958), Dr. Hsu taught at the University of California at Santa Barbara, until his retirement in 1991, then holding the title of Professor Emeritus. Dr. Hsu's The Rise of Modern China, first published in 1970 and currently in its sixth revised edition, is considered a fundamental text for students of later Chinese history, having been translated from English into several languages. Dr. Dolores M Hsu also taught at the University of California at Santa Barbara, in the department of Music. 徐中約於1923年生於上海,畢業於燕京大學,後赴美國哈佛大學東亞研究所進修,並於1954年獲博士學位,曾任教於美國加州大學聖塔芭芭拉分校歷史系至1991年,繼為該校榮休教授。徐中約博士的著作《中國近代史》(The Rise of Modern China)初版於1970年,經過六次修訂並翻譯成多語種,如今被視為研究近代中國史最重要的基礎教科書之一。其妻杜樂思博士 (Dr. Dolores M. Buyers' Premium and Charges

28% on the first $50,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $50,000 up to and including $1,000,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $1,000,000 up to and including $6,000,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of $6,000,000.

A 3rd-party bidding platform fee (the "3rd-party bidding platform fee") equal to 4% of THE BID PRICE shall be payable by buyers whose successful bid is submitted via 3rd-party bidding platforms, including Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.

Oversized Lots
